trailrun & dinner at 茶寮 大

Although it was chilly and sometimes raining but very good for running.
We took on the first train from Hanakoganei at 5 o'clock and took a bus from St. Okutama. The start point was Kamosawa along the Lake Okutama-Ko.
Although it was raining, Mt Kumotori was so popular that many hikers were climbing.

Mt. Kumotori is the highest mountain of Tokyo.
After climbing the Mts, we enjoyed a dinner with Mr.G family.
The resaturant was 茶寮 大 and a little old, small one but the dishes were very nice and we could enjoy many goog fishes.

Thanks Mr.G for having a good time with us!

Mt.Fuji (third time in this year)

Mt. Fuji called me again today!?
The weatherforecast said it would rain, but I could enjoy the fine weather, although a little bit windy.
My legs were not in good condition, but I could confirm the race course (where I should pace up or down).

Umagaeshi, 0合目 In the race trail part begins from this point.

The second Torii. If you can see this, the top is just before your eyes!

There is a shrine on the top of Mt.Fuji.
Today's another target is the famous onsen,"Nomekoinoyu"

After passing the suspension bridge, you can reach the onsen.

You can enjoy not only the onsen but eating Soba there if not sold out.

Mt.Fuji (second time in this year)

I struggled with myself in the bed whether I would go for running or not. The fight continued for 30 minutes. And then went to Mt.Fuji(1 hour behind the plan....)
There were only twelve days till the Mt.Fuji climbing race, so there were so many runners to try to run the race course. On my way descending from the top I talked with one of the runner about many races while running.

There is little snow. We can go to the top!

It was so fine that we could enjoy the spectacle view from the top.

After climbing I always eat this Udon. 500Yen!! How cheap! But delicious!

Kitatanzawa

This weekend and the next weekend I have to work and can't go trail at all. So I took a holiday today.
I went to Kitatanzawa to see the course of the Kitatanzawa endurance race.
According to the wetherforecast it would rain but it was so nice day to run because it was cloudy and cool.

Nowadays I feel keenly that I am short of training.

There were many moutain azalea .

In Tanzawa there are many leeches. You should watch out. The best way to avoid them is not to stop at all and run faster!

Today's training: 35km (trail)

Mt.Takao again

From Mt.Takao to Mt.Jinba we can enjoy comfortable trail run.
This time I could enjoy trail running with a friend from US!
I could have a good time but I clearly realized that I had to practice speaking and listening English much more.

It was foggy till we arrived Mt.Jinba.

Just before arriving at Mt.Jinba the blue sky came up!

We can see the Lake Sagami......

Today's training: about 30km trail

First trail run in this year! I love trail run!

My left thigh has been getting better but isn't completely healed, so I gave up going skiing and decided to go trail running, although it is a little early to go trail running because of cold and snow.
From Mt.Takao to Mt.Jinba there were too many people but from Mt.Jinba to Mt.Ichimichi there were few hiker, so I could enjoy calm trail run.
Today I heard twitters of trees! At first I thought them twitters of birds, but I realized that so many trees creaked and made sounds like twitters!!

We have to keep mountains clean! Let's clean up

A lot of snow! Downslope was like skiing!

Of course I slipped many times.

Goal was 瀬音の湯 beside the Akikawa valley.

Today's training: about 30km trail run(JR高尾ー高尾山ー陣馬山ー醍醐丸ー市道山ー瀬音の湯)

Mitake-san Trail run, got injured...

Recently trail run has become popular and there was over 900 entries to this race.

And this race in the last year was the first mountaineering race that I participated. I wanted to see the different "me" from that of last year.
As soon as the start I paced up,and kept high pace. Most of the first half is upslope, and then we dashed the latter downslope. To tell the truth, I had been getting much more confidence in downslope in comparison to last year. I paced up more and passed a few runners!!
In the steep downslope a root of a tree caught my foot, and fell down(just like "dive into the bottom world"). I was hit upper the right edge of pelvis. For a while I couldn't move from there, but shortly I could begin to walk and then jog slowly. Many runners passed me and saying " You fell down? Are you alright?" and I replied "I'm fine, thank you" but in my heart I shouted "never alright, couldn't regret more...butu-butu-butu-butu".I wonder whether I should continue the race or not, but there may be last 3km left so I kept running(jogging) and could reach the goal.

A tragedy came after that. My back pain got worse and worse. The pain was like that of burn or something like electric. Maybe the hematoma became bigger and the mass compressed the nerve. Finally, from the cable car station I couldn't walk any more(couldn't keep standing). The station staff carried me on his back and took me into my car. My wife drove the car and took me to my hospital. No fracture, and great hematoma on my right back. I was laughingstock in my hospital. I learned a new thing. A bruise can make a terrible pain derived from acute nerve compression and skin expansion.

great appreciation to my wife,my daughters, station staffs and hospital staffs.

Mitake-san Trail run, everything is ready!!

Yesterday Mitake-san trail run was held. It was only 15km, so-called a splint mountaineering race. My cold had got well and according the weather forecast it'll be very fine. Best situation for the race (except my short of training...).
After taking the Mitake cable car, we stayed Kuraya.

Although it rained and hailed much the previous night instead of the forecast, I could see the wonderful red sky, a mourning glow while mourning walking.

Mitake-san Trail running

It was a little chilly but fine and good for trail.
Jumping into the 6:11 train and began to run from Musashiitukaichi station to Mitake San and enjoy the autumn scenery around the Mitake-San and then returned to Musashiitukaichi again.

They said leaves didn't turn red beautifully in this year.

The water of the waterfall was very cold!!!
Off course I didn't jump into the waterfall.

Oshiruko made in Mitake-san. Sweet gave me the power to run back to the Musashiitukaichi.

Mt Kumotori and Mt Fuji

I woke up at 4:00 am and went to Okutama. The bus was full of hikers and most of them were the 50's or 60's(?). Their power was admirable! I climbed up Mt Kumotori at first where we could see the marvelous Mt Fuji, then run along the mountain ridges. It was a good season to see the autumn scenery, such as colorful fallen leaves. Finally today's goal was Moeginoyu(Onsen).

world above the clouds

Mt Kumotori (highest in Tokyo) and Mt Fuji(highest in Japan) Can you see Mt Fuji?

Mt Fuji again.... I declare that I'll challenge the Mt Fuji climbing race next year again.

As I thought I had muscle pain here and there. For a few days I will heal my body.

On today's newspaper they reported the accident. We trail runners all regret it, and have to remember when we run around the mountains.
